Kundal Honey & Macadamia Shampoo, Treatment and Ultra Serum (Baby Powder) Review

A few weeks ago, I came across the launch of a new Korean brand of haircare range called Kundal on Qoo10.sg and it got me interested as the products were selling very well with many good reviews. I went to research about this brand and saw that Director Pi (Korean beauty editor/cosmetic ingredient analyst) actually recommended this shampoo in one of her youtube videos.

Today I will be sharing my thoughts on Kundal haircare range - Honey & Macadamia shampoo, treatment and ultra serum in baby powder scent as I have used them for a few days.

Scents Available

First of all, Kundal Honey & Macadamia haircare range is available in 22 different scents but only 7 scents are available in Singapore at this time I am typing this post, namely Baby Powder, Clean Soap, Cherry Blossom, White Musk, Pink Grapefruit, Acacia Moringa and Ylang Ylang (premium scents handpicked by professional perfumer in Korea). From my research, all the ingredients used in the products are the same in all these seven scents, except the scent of course. The reason why I chose baby powder out of these 7 scents because Director Pi recommended this shampoo scent in her video and it is the most popular scent out of the seven in Korea, and baby powder cant smell too bad right?

Full Ingredients List For Kundal Shampoo and Kundal Ultra Serum

Kundal's products do no contain SLS, SLES, paraben, silicon and any harmful ingredients. The bottle of baby powder shampoo show the ingredient list in Korean wordings but I managed to find the full ingredient list of its cherry blossom shampoo in English, and also the full ingredient lists for its ultra serum as follows.

My Thoughts

The main ingredients in all Kundal's shampoo and treatment are honey and macadamia extracts. The shampoo is transparent liquid that is not too concentrated, one pump is enough to wash my long thin hair. It is a nice and pleasant scent that is not too strong. But what amazed is that it leave my hair very smooth when I rinsed it with water (before applying the treatment)!!! I follow up with its treatment every time after I shampoo my hair as it is my habit to apply conditioner/ hair mask when I shampoo my hair. Texture of the treatment is more alike to conditioner, not the super thick hair mask type.

Then I towel dry my hair before applying one full pump of Kundal Ultra Serum onto the end of my hair, and another pump onto my hair's end after I blow dry my hair. The main ingredient in Kundal ultra serum should be macadamia seed extract as there is no mention of honey on the product name. When I first sniff this oil, it does not remind me of any baby powder scent, but smell more towards Macadamia seed oil or a blend of natural oils (since I also saw jojoba seed oil, sunflower seed oil, Olive fruit oil, Avocado oil, Sweet almond oil and other natural oils in the ingredient list). But with so many different type of oil blends in this product, it does not leave my hair feeling greasy.

I use the full range of Kundal shampoo, treatment and ultra serum in baby powder, you must be wondering if my hair smell like baby powder scent right? The answer is NO! Although it is called baby powder, it does not smell exactly like baby powder, smell more like a light floral powder scent which I like. The use of the these 3 Kundal products really make my hair feel smooth and soft, and it does not make my hair looking flat the next day. It even makes my scalp feel less greasy I find. I am impressed with the results, no wonder Kundal products are selling so well in Korea. I am going to buy other scents to try out soon, interested in its cherry blossom and white musk scents. Saw they even have many interesting scents like French Lavender, English Rose, Wedding bouquet, Tropical Mango and even anti-hair loss and scalp care shampoo in Korea.

The good news is Kundal haircare range is pretty affordable, you can get the whole set (shampoo, treatment and ultra serum) at S$31.39 or even cheaper (including $1.99 shipping) from Kundal Korea official estore on Qoo10.sg. Each unit is selling at S$9.80 excluding shipping.

[Update on 27 Feb 2020] 
It has been slightly over 6 months that I have been using Kundal haircare range (now they have more products like face wash, hand wash, toothpaste, feminine wash, hand cream, body scrub to name a few available on Qoo10). And there expanded their scents from 7 to 12 (the newer scents include Fuzzy Navel, Blanc, wedding bouquet, blackberry bay and cotton blue).

So far, I have tried only 6 out of the current 12 which are baby powder, fuzzy navel, wedding bouquet, acacia moringa, cherry blossom, white musk - and my favourite scent is White Musk (it smell like a subtle baby powder scent- nicer than baby powder itself) Cherry blossom and baby powder are nice too. BUT personally I am not a fan of fuzzy navel (too sweet for my liking) and the last on my list is Acacia Moringa (do not like this scent at all). I am still loving Kundal's ultra serum which is one of the two serums which I managed to finish using and now on my third bottle (another is Mucota Aire 10). Still waiting for them to launch the anti hair loss shampoo.

Worst Makeup Experience in Singapore With a Freelance Makeup Artist Called Nicole

It has been a long time since I last blogged.. but today just so angry that I wanted to share my makeup experience with a freelance makeup artist who fixed fake eyelashes with a gap in between my real lashes and fake lashes.

And its is not a $10 makeup .. it cost $100 with a simple hair styling. But it speaks volume of the makeup artist's skill when she did such crappy makeup on me. It is definitely not the "IN" thing to have an obvious gap in between our real lashes and the fake lashes. At the point of time when she pasted fake lashes on me,  I looked into the mirror I already saw the obvious gap but the makeup artist kept saying there was no gap!!! The fake eyelashes she used have stiff thick black lash bones and it look awful with the thick black line.

This makeup artist by the name of Nicole was referred to by Yen, and I believe they are a group of freelance makeup artists sharing their customers.

Normally when we engage the service of makeup artists, definitely want to see a makeup look that look way better than the usual anyhow makeup we do on ourselves right? I am not a professional makeup artist and any trained makeup artist will definitely be able to do a better makeup than me- but not this time round.

By the way, the $100 package consists of:
- 1* simple hairstyling/hairdo
- 1* natural makeup
- a pair of false eyelashes (no refund for any unused lashes)

From her profile, it seem like her hair styling skill is way better than her makeup skill, and true enough this is the fact. She just spent less than 10 minutes using a hair curler to create big curls which I like. But not the makeup part, the eye makeup was really badly done, I saw that she used a darker powder to give me contour at my jaw line, but she skipped the highlight. I have to use my Becca highlighter to dust on my cheeks to give abit of glow. She only curled my real lashes and then fixed on the fake lashes, without applying any mascara on my lashes. At first the lip colour, she put on a super bright colour telling me normally for night time dinner, people put on brighter colour!! I really could not take the lip colour so she removed the colour and reapplied a nude pink shade on me.

This was not the first time that professional makeup artists did full face makeup on me, but this was certainly the worst makeup experience out of all. Wasted $100 to learn a lesson - better to get recommendations from real friends who have their makeup done by the makeup artists. Yen was referred to by an unknown seller who is friend with Yen.

So think twice if you want to engage their services.


To test whether it is the fake eyelash's material that resulted in the gap, I just did a test and anyhow dust some eyeshadow, curled my lashes and put on a coat of mascara before pasting the same fake lashes that was used on me yesterday.. and it did not show an obvious gap!!!

The extra step of putting on mascara before fixing the fake lashes makes a difference in the end result I find, giving it a more balanced and volumised look. In fact it looks like 2 different design of lashes being used, when its 1 lash 2 looks. The culprit is not the fake eyelashes! 

Hot Selling Heme Baby Q Transparent Puff - The New MakeUp Blender

One thing I dont like about using BB cushion is that I find dabbing a used sponge onto the cushion and then onto my skin like quite unhygienic so I have to wash my sponge after every use, and washing and drying can be time consuming and the sponge will take some time to dry. So end up I use my powder foundation more often than bb cushion. I was curious when I saw this cute Heme Baby Q transparent puff and that it can last up to 10 years!!

TA DA!! MY new cute Heme Baby Qtansparent puff fitting nicely in my Laneige bb cushion case. By the way, its a silicone puff which has a cute smiley face imprinted on the surface and its shape designed like a tear drop which can fit all BB cushion cases.

So does it work? 

It does pick up the liquid foundation from the BB cushion when i dab it onto the cushion and it does apply fairly well. Can use its chin to apply on wider surface like my forehead and its tip on hard to reach corner like sides of nose and under the eye areas. Able to spread and dab like a normal sponge but won’t have to waste product as it won’t get absorbed into this silicone puff. I also tried applying compact blusher using this Heme transparent puff, it does not seem to pick up the powder easily. For applying compact blusher, using a brush will be a better option I find.

After using I immediately wash it using a cleansing oil and dry with a piece of tissue paper and it can be thoroughly cleansed and dried within less than 1 min and put in the zip lock bag that comes with it or into the cushion case. How convenient and hygienic it can be.. Really a genius product!! (Compared to my MAC 187 brush, Sigma F80 brush and beauty blender, I like it for its ease of cleansing as it is the easiest to clean and dry after each use)

My Daily Health and Beauty Supplements from Nano Japan

I have been consuming these products for more than 1 year, coming 2 years so thought of sharing with you all these amazing products which I love so so much. Any Successful Treatments for Sebaceous Hyperplasia?

I used to like my skin but not anymore ... In fact now I feel very depressed whenever I look into the mirror. I am suffering from a skin disorder called Sebaceous Hyperplasia which is benign over-growth of normal oil glands (sebaceous glands) of the skin.

These bumps are skin-colored and have a central opening that looks super obvious since they are not flat but appear like some irritating pimples which I am unable to pop. I have visited the renowned DRx Medical Aesthetic Clinic about 2 or 3 years ago and had gone through 2 sessions of CO2 laser treatment with them (done by the friendly and pretty Dr. Yanni)  but the treatments did not help at all. I spent at least $500-$600 (including products) at DRx yet I cannot see any obvious results :(

Just wondering if anyone of you out there has any recommendation of a good dermatologist or skin clinic in Singapore that can help me get rid of these ugly bumps from my skin. Or perhaps if anyone of you out there can share your success cases of how you get rid of Sebaceous Hyperplasia using your secret home remedies. I would be grateful.

Ever since I posted the above post, I received a couple of email enquiries from readers who are facing similar skin concern, asking if I managed to get rid of these awful looking Sebaceous Hyperplasia. I guess I am not the only one wanting to find a solution ...

Early this week, I was googling about Sebaceous Hyperplasia and found out that Dr. Yanni had opened her own clinic (The Urban Clinic) at Raffles City so I went to enquire if they are using the same machine as what DRx is using and also the cost to treat my condition via their facebook. They told me that they treat sebaceous hyperplasia with a combination of skincare to reduce sebum activity and electrocautery using the Ellman System (a product of USA). They offered me a complimentary consultation with Dr. Yanni so that she can see my actual condition and give me a cost quote.

Although I did not get satisfactory result when I was at DRx, I decided to go for the complimentary consultation with Dr. Yanni and checked if the machine she is using at her own clinic is different from that of DRx's. I remember her as a pretty and friendly doctor who will not hard sell her customers with services or products so I booked for an appointment for the next day.

So yesterday, I went to The Urban Clinic located at Raffles City for the first time.

This clinic look atas right? Inside is like a pop art gallery, not the usual white theme skin clinic that one would see..

I needed to fill up a short form for first time customer (yes, I was told that even for customers going for consultation need to register), the friendly staff also took the front, right side and left side of my face using a revolutionary 3D camera to analyse my face condition. 

Then I finally got to meet up with Dr. Yanni who is still so pretty.. skin is still flawless and smooth (same as how she look a few years ago! ) She said that sebaceous hyperplasia is caused by oily glands deep within my skin so I can consider to flatten the surface of the protruding bumps by burning them off via electrocautery. I do not need to go to the extend of taking medication to control the active oil glands as she said I have dry skin not oily skin. 

As I only have a few sebaceous hyperplasia to treat, she said I could consider then do it another day or I could also do it on the spot. Since the price was reasonable and that I really wanted so badly to get rid of these awful looking protruding skin tone bumps, I told Dr. Yanni " Let's do it!"

So a staff brought me to their treatment room to remove my makeup and apply the numbing cream on the few spots for about 20mins. 

  

This is the Ellman System that was used to perform the electrocautery on me, a metal plate like thing was also placed behind my back. Sorry, no photos taken during the procedure as this is NOT a sponsored treatment - I paid for this treatment as I really cannot stand the awful looking bumps.

After about 20mins, Dr. Yanni came into the room and started to do the treatment on my skin. She told me out of her 100 patients, all 100 will find electrocautery painful, even her male patients find it painful. But I really find it painless (think its the numbing cream that helps alot), just that I could smell a burnt smell when she was doing the treatment. Personally I find going to the dentist to do the normal polishing and scaling treatment to be a lot more painful than electrocautery. Dr. Yanni said my threshold of pain very high but I am the type of person who is quite scare of pain. Think I have super thick skin lah!

The whole procedure was completed within 5 minutes..

Then I was out at Raffles City Shopping Centre window shopping... Took some pictures after the treatment was completed... The treated spots were red (no blood)..Think have to wait for a couple of days for the skin to recover..for scabs to form..

An anti bacterial gel was applied to these spots immediately after the procedure was completed. I was also given a small container of the anti bacterial gel to be applied after washing my face, before applying moisturiser. The staff also told me to remember to apply sunscreen.

I will be going back to the clinic for review in 3 weeks' time. Fingers crossed that I am able to get rid of my awful sebaceous hyperplasia this time round ...


Think the usual consultation fee is $40 as shown on my receipt, but it was waived since I made an enquiry via their facebook. The staff told me that there is one time complimentary consultation for first time customers who enquire via their facebook so can drop by The Urban Clinic's facebook to enquire about your skin concern. Not too sure when this promotion will end though.

My First Mucota Dyna Argan Oil Hair Treatment Review (DIY)

I have heard many good reviews about Mucota products (Aire series, especially Aire 10) as well as Mucota Dyna Hair Treatment. So today I am going to try out Mucota Dyna Hair Treatment (The Do-IT-Yourself Method).

These are 4 products in Mucota Dyna Series. 

DYNA CCA (yellow pack): Changes the hair texture, gives hair a sleek and glossy finish.

DYNA CAT (blue pack): To relax curly or color-damaged hair, leaves hair soft and natural finish.

DYNA CA (green pack): To maintain the hair straightness and softness in a natural finish.

DYNA AFTER (pink pack): To moisturize the hair and deodorizing effect.

After reading a few reviews and also enquired with the sellers of Mucota Dyna products, I bought this duo (CAT and AFTER) from Dreambook E-store on Qoo10. Got a seller suggested me CCA (yellow pack), but I chose CAT (blue pack) as it seem that most hair stylists used this on their clients.

However I did not follow exactly the same steps as shown above.

Instead, I started by using Mucota Aire 1 shampoo (without using any conditioner) then towel dry my hair and apply DYNA CAT. I left it on for 30 minutes including application time. Then I rinsed off, blow dry my hair and use my Panasonic Hair Straightener EH-HS95 Hair Straightener at 180 Degree Celsius to seal off the treatment. I applied DYNA AFTER and left it on for 20 minutes including application time. Finally, I rinsed my hair and blow dry.

Have to say it was quite difficult and messy to apply the cream onto my hair as I cannot really see the back of my hair. Sectioning of my hair using the clips was also not easy. Think to do a good job requires one to coat the products evenly onto each strand of hair and must know when to rinse off. I don’t know how to check the softness of my hair (think need to do a pull test) when the first cream (DYNA CAT) was applied. My timing was also inaccurate. By the time I finished applying the product to the second side of my hair, I was worried that I have exceeded the processing time on the first side of hair that explains the time I took at the 2 stages in which the two creams were applied. 

So how are the results??

After washing off DYNA CAT and blow drying my hair, I could actually feel that my hair was already soft and smooth. My natural curls seem to straighten as well. The end result was not too bad (not super flat type) considering that I did this Mucota Dyna hair treatment by myself (with no experience and hands that do not coordinate well). Seriously it is not easy to apply the products evenly onto my hair when I cannot see the back. My hair is now quite soft and smooth although some parts may be uneven. If I have done this Mucota Dyna Hair Treatment at a hair salon, the result will be 100x better and certainly more even. 

Mucota Products are worth the hype!! 

I am going to get their conditioner, hair mask and the super popular Aire 10 leave-in conditioner. 

Update 3 February 2017
Just before Chinese New Year, I brought my Mucota Dyna set to a hair salon which offers Mucota Dyna treatment and the hair stylists said for my hair condition I should be using DYNA CCA so that hair wont be so flat after treatment. The hair stylist said DYNA CAT could still be used on my hair, just that he will need to adjust the treatment time. The effect was way better and evenly straightened when a professional did the whole treatment for me. It just took less than 10 minutes for the hair stylist to apply each cream to my hair. For my hair condition, he said the treatment time for DYNA CAT and DYNA AFTER should be 15 minutes and 10 minutes respectively. 

Anyway, I also bought Mucota Aire 10 recently and have been using for a few weeks. After trying it, I know why Aire 10 is one of the most popular hair care products in the Aire range - its works in leaving my hair soft and smooth without the greasy effect. Highly recommended to try Mucota Aire 10 if you have straight hair (If you have permed or wavy hair, then check out Mucota Aire 9) - I am using Aire 10 prior to blow drying my hair (as a heat protector) and it also double up as a leave-in conditioner. I got all my Mucota products from a Japanese company (Dreambook E-store) from Qoo10, and their prices are very reasonable and they provide free shipping if you spend more than S$40. But if you are going to buy just a bottle of Mucota Aire 10, it will cost a total of S$22.90 including S$3 shipping fee. Pretty reasonable right? Delivery takes about 5 to 7 working days as the item(s) will be shipped directly from Japan. 

*P.S. if you are considering to DIY this Mucota Dyna hair treatment, better to ask someone to help you out or ask your hair stylist friend for help. Its really not easy to manage by yourself and the timing to wash the products off also require experience.

Swatches for Light 45:

I chose the shade Light 45 for light complexion with yellow undertone. My skin tone is medium fair. I was quite indecisive in choosing the shade- Light 44 and Light 45 look pretty similar but in the end I decided to choose a yellow based foundation. (For reference, I use C3 for MAC Studio Fix powder, NC25 for Studio Fix Liquid Foundation and Shade 21 for Laneige BB cushion).


Texture: The powder is lightweight and has a buttery soft texture making application a breeze.

Coverage: I find that this foundation offers a medium to full coverage if I use the sponge that is included in the compact. For a no makeup look (or to create the illusion of flawless skin), I will apply the foundation using a powder brush. This method allows buildable coverage for a natural look.

Smell: None. There is no fragrance used in the making of this foundation. No fanciful smell for sure.

Lasting Effect: This foundation is pretty lasting on my combination skin which tends to be more on the oily side. Normally after lunch time, I just need to touch up once after blotting with a piece of facial tissue and it will not look cakey.


My thoughts:

I like the fact that this foundation is formulated without parabens and free of mineral oil, paraffin and fragrance. The finish is matt and it gives a natural-looking medium coverage when I apply it using the sponge provided, as shown in the above picture (on the right). The shade 45 is a perfect match for my skin tone. To test the coverage of the foundation, I did not use any concealer before applying this powder foundation. It is able to reduce the redness around my nose area and even out my skin tone. As for my serious dark undereye problem, I would need to apply a concealer first. It also has a wide range of shades which cater to very fair to deeper skin tones. It would be great if this powder foundation has SPF in it to give sun protection against the harmful UV rays.



Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Brush

Description of product:

This unique, dual-ended eye shadow brush is designed just for eye contouring—a groundbreaking technique once used only by makeup pros to define and enhance eyes. This set contains an eye contour brush and a brush case.

The tapered Shade end is uniquely shaped to precisely sweep on shadow exactly where you want it. I use it to apply eye shadow on the outer "V" or outer corners of my eyes, and it gives precise application. It can also be used to soften/ smudge my pencil liner on my lash line, so that the liner won't appear so harsh.

The Light end blends and softens product without removing pigment—creating a natural-looking, contoured eye look. I like how fluffy yet dense it is. This domed shape bristles is ideal for application and blending.


My thoughts:

Both ends of this brush are ultra-soft and dense. Although the bristles are synthetic, powder can be easily picked up and blending is a breeze. It can also be used to apply under eye concealer and to eliminate all traces of a blemish. Before using this brush, I washed both ends with a mild baby shampoo and there was no shedding of the bristles at all.

One unique thing about this brush is that it comes with a sleek, hard coffin case to keep the dual ended brush protected at home or while on the go. I really like it so much that I got 2 of them, one for home’s use and another to carry on the go..
