Make Up For Ever Spring 2012 La Boheme Collection

MAKE UP FOR EVER takes a Bohemian approach to life. An eyeshadow palette,  two original Rouge Artist shades and an eye pencil in a limited edition. A collection inspired by nature, to let your beauty desires blossom and give new form to the Bohemian spirit. And I was really excited and happy when I received this gorgeous and colourful collection from the Spring 2012 La Boheme Collection

For the first time, MAKE UP FOR EVER presents it’s eyeshadows in a new shape. six new limited-edition shades in extremely pearly springtime pastel tones. The baked powder technology ensures fine, intense color particles for eyeshadows with 50% pearly particles and a paraben free formula. The result: incredibly fresh and luminous makeup and intense, Bohemian chic eyes. The eyeshadows of the palette glide on with fingertips or a brush for two different results: applied dry for a sheer, luminous and natural effect or wet for an intense look, filled with pearly particles. La Bohème Palette contains six eyeshadow shades with pearly or sparkle finishes.

The star of the collection is this unique limited-edition palette dressed in an entirely homemade creation made of recyclable cardboard. A bold patchwork of Provençal or floral motifs, with arabesques and refined details. Historical pieces that Dany Sanz brought back from her travels and cleverly selected and coordinated. As if topstitched, the logo looks handmade. Inside this case, which opens with a silky  ribbon, an iconic flower of the collection stands out against the black background.

La Boheme Rouge Artist Natural (Boheme) 

The legendary Rouge Artist makes a comeback in a new melt-away formula with a delicious sheer result  In 2 new Limited Edition shades.- Boheme and Folk. Sparkling with iridescent particles, they naturally embellish the lips with a romantic shimmer. As for the design, Rouge Artist gets customized like a Bohemian accessory: the imprint of leaves hides inside the tube and the MAKE UP FOR EVER logo reveals its many facets on the cap. Boheme appears as a lovely peach beige shade on my lips, I would say Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist in Boheme is a my lips but better lipstick shade. The creamy formula makes application a breeze and does not have any waxy feel. Somehow I find it makes my lips look moisturised without any flaky effect! (",)

 La Boheme Aqua Eyes Eyeliner in Gypsy

I have read many raves on Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Eyeliner and I was delighted that I was given this product to try out.  Now it comes in a new wood-inspired shade: a gorgeous matte black-brown ~ Gypsy Topped with a floral cap in the spirit of the La Bohème collection, it’s the ideal accessory to accentuate the eyes and complete the folk look. Aqua Eyes Eyeliner is one of Make Up For Ever's Best Seller product and it really lives up to its hype! It glides smoothly on my skin, the color is pigmented and and it is very lasting without any smudging. Gypsy is really a nice shade of black brown that add definition to my eyes naturally.

I was also given a tube of Make Up For Ever Eye Prime Long Wear Eyelid Primer along with the La Boheme Collection. Enriched with waxes and mineral powders, Eye Primer creates a protective base on the eyelid allowing eye makeup to last longer without creasing or fading.

The wand comes in a doe-foot applicator for easy application. It has an ultra light and creamy texture which blends seamlessly into the skin, creating a matte and smooth canvas before applying eye shadows. The light beige tone is a natural skin color which is ideal for every skin tone. See how it disappeared onto my skin after blending out. Can be applied alone to brighten up and even out skin tone at the eyelid areas, or add your favorite eye shadows on top of it. I am using this product almost everyday in the past 1 month and I am loving it because it really makes my eye makeup last much longer and make the colors look more vibrant.

I have never tried any liquid foundation from Clarins so I was pretty excited to try out the product when I received my very first Clarins Liquid Foundations from the lovely ladies of Clarins Singapore. I was intrigued by the product name - Skin Illusion (and the first thing that came to my mind was "can this foundation really gives my not-perfect skin the illusion of better skin?")

Trying It On...

Clarins Skin Illusion SPF 10 foundation comes in an elegant, crystal pump-bottle with a light gold cap stamped with a stylized leaf delicately etched with the signature C. I just need to use 2 pumps of product on my whole face.

Applying it on my face:

I have to say the very first time I used this foundation, I layered like 4 pumps of product over my whole skin which was prepped with a tinted primer and the result was not ideal-  it sort of made my skin look dull and appeared much darker than my skin tone. - And I figured something must be wrong somewhere...

So I used back my trusted face primer - Clarins Instant smooth line correcting concentrate which melted into my skin, creating a smooth canvas before I applied just 1 pump of foundation on one side of my skin using just a sponge.. And Voila! The result was fabulous and I could see my not-perfect skin instantly transformed to a much better skin! (Picture as shown above) It is pretty magical that the trick is to use less of the foundation yet it is able to even out skin tone, making skin look radiant, and smoother in just seconds. Thanks to the amazing Light-Optimizing+ Complex! I love how this lightweight foundation melts into my skin to give a better skin effect as though its my second skin, with just 2 pumps of product for my whole face.

Did I mention that the foundation is pretty lasting too? my makeup can last throughout the evening/night (about 6-8 hours) without the need to touch-up..

3D Radiance Face Powder (Limited Edition)

This Pixel Art highly graphic 3D Radiance Face Powder is about precision with its colour pixel motifs. In a brush stroke, the beige and peach colour duo evens and illuminates. Pink and mauve bring a touch of freshness and radiance. The powder is really soft and lightweight, and add a glow to my dull complexion. I love the ultra smooth texture! I use it as a finishing touch after my foundation by applying the powder using a big powder brush on my skin. It can also double up as a soft pink blusher if I were to sweep my brush across the pink little squares, and apply the powder on the apple of my cheeks. The shade blend seamlessly into my skin, yet gives a touch of radiance.

It is presented in the classic Clarins light gold flat case, with Clarins signature. A red velvet purse is also included.

Ombre Minerale 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette (New)

A palette of four eye colours to play for a variety of looks and there are 6 colour harmonies with modern shades that are easy to match and blend. Highly concentrated in mineral pigments, these eye shadows really light up the eyes. Can be applied dry or damp for a natural or sophisticated look.

There are many ways you can use these lovely palettes, here is one of the ways...

Each harmony comprises two satin shades, a darker eye shadow liner and an iridescent highlighter to mix and match to suit you.



• One shade: apply a light shade or the highlighter over the eyelid to open the eyes with a transparent finish.

• Two shades: play on contrast by combining light and dark shades.

• Three shades: apply one of the satin shades, the shadow liner on the eye contour and finish with a touch of highlighter!

The swatches of 01 Pastels and 04 Indigo..

The shades in '01 Pastels' palette are really all pastels, except for the brown which is the darkest out of the 4, good to use as a liner or to apply at the outer V of our eyes. It is a palette that I will reach for if I want a soft and subtle look that add radiance to my eyes. 

Now look at '04 Indigo' palette, a very big contrast in term of colors as compared to  '01 Pastels'.  Personally I fell in love at first sight when I saw the picture of '04 Indigo' and the shades look even gorgeous in pans..In fact this is my very first blue palette, and I am really loving it! The texture is soft and gives a silky finish. The colours appear intensified when the eye shadow is applied with a damp applicator.

Instant Liner (New)

With its liquid texture and foam applicator, Instant Liner draws a high-precision, regular, intense black line in one stroke. Its light gold and black bottle has refined, elegant, feminine lines.

Its foam applicator is sturdy and able me to draw my eye liner easily.  

A liner that dries quickly. However, the lines that can be drawn using this liner are not those ultra thin lines. Not as fine as the lines drawn using a mechanical pencil though. But I love how intense the black liner appear on my skin.. Super Black! ('',)

Applying the products ....

I applied Ombre Minerale 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 04 Indigo on my eye, as per the instructions shown at the back of the packaging.

Here is how my lips look with Clarins Rouge Prodige in 105, Peach Sorbet

I also applied Instant Liner on my eye line.. the bottom liner, I used the dark purple (damp) from the Ombre Minerale 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 04 Indigo. I finished the look by filling in my brows and wearing a pair of fake lashes.
