Review: L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Range - Eye Cream, Day Cream & Concentrate

Do you feel that your skin look tired, dull with signs of wrinkles?

For me, I do feel my skin looked especially tired and dull after a late night of partying... Hence I was pretty excited when we were given the latest L'Oreal Paris Dermo-Expertise Youth Code Range to try..

L'Oreal Paris Dermo-Expertise Youth Code Range is a breakthrough derived from gene science after 10 years of research.

L’Oreal Youth Code technology includes:
  • Patented Pro-Gen Technology - A Biolysat, or product of fermented Bifidus bacteria which has been found to trigger Keratin 6B gene expression, body chemicals which are involved in cellular renewal and promote cell barrier function) to help tired skin to retain moisture and defend itself from aggression and re-establish its natural "youth code"
  • Adenosine - A constitutive component of DNA which slows down the effects of aging by stimulating Pro-Collgen to support the skin's structure and reducing wrinkles.

L’Oreal Youth Code range comprises of 3 main products:

- Youth Code Anti -Wrinkle Rejuvenating Day Cream (SG$42.90)
- Youth Code Anti-Wrinkle Rejuvenating Eye Care (SG$42.90)
- Youth Code Anti-Wrinkle Rejuvenating Concentrate (SG$45.90)

Trying them on my skin:

Product: L'Oreal Youth Code Anti-Wrinkle Rejuvenating Eye Care

Descriptions:

Skin concerns: Wrinkles, dark circles, eye bags
Illuminating texture melts into the skin: Smoothing action and soft finish. It is slightly tinted to help illuminate the eye contour area.

How to use: Apply Youth Code Eye Cream daily, morning and/or evening, around eye contour area, particularly targeting crow’s feet and bags.

My thoughts:
I do like the light and creamy texture. Scent wise, I did not smell of any, can say its unscented. The product absorbs almost instantly into my skin. No greasy feel, just smoother and hydrated eye areas. I do not notice any obvious illuminating effect upon application though. As the product is on the creamy side, it comes in a jar form, so I got to use a cotton bud to scoop the product every time I use. (Dipping fingers directly into the jar is a big NO-No, to avoid contaminating the rest of the product) I think I would prefer my eye cream to come in a tube, much more convenient to use. Just a bit of the eye cream goes a long way.

Product: L'Oreal Youth Code Anti-Wrinkle Rejuvenating Concentrate

Descriptions:

Skin concerns: Wrinkles, tired-looking, dull complexion
Texture melts into the Skin: With a smoothing and tautening effect, skin is left with a soft and non-shiny finish
How to use: Apply Youth Code Concentrate daily, morning and/or evening, on thoroughly cleansed skin, particularly targeting more apparent wrinkles.

My thoughts:

This is an oil-in-water emulsion but I do not feel any oiliness when I am using the product. The product, a lightweight creamy gel, just melts into my skin like what a liquid serum does. After application, my skin is clearer and smoother, with a soft and mattifying finish. I can smell a nice subtle scent when I am using the product. Out of the 3 products in the Youth Code range, this is my favourite product. I admit I prefer this packaging over its siblings, I like how easy the product is dispensed out from this classy looking black tube. No wastage, and I can easily control the right amount of product that I want to dispense. Follow up with Youth Code Anti -Wrinkle Rejuvenating Day Cream, and my skin is ultra smooth and well moisturized.

My thoughts:

This creamy, gel like day cream absorbs instantly onto my skin without leaving any oily after effect. It just leaves my skin velvety smooth and more hydrated, thanks to the silicone elastomers and mattifying particles in the product. I love the scent of this product, slightly floral scented, giving me a refreshing and uplifting feeling upon application. Oh well, similar to its eye cream, it comes in a jar packaging, so I still got to use a cotton bud to scoop out the product before application. (A cotton bud has two sides right, one for the eye cream, one for the day cream! Just nice!) Although this is stated as a day cream, it can be used as a night cream too, since it does not contain SPF. Of course, if you use it in the day, remember to apply a sunblock thereafter to protect our skin from the harmful UV rays.

Overall, I love the texture and light floral scent of L'Oreal Youth Code range, the products are easily absorbed into my skin without the greasy after-feel.. My skin feel smoother, softer and moisturized after each use.

*L'Oreal Youth Code range is available at Watsons, Guardian, Robinsons, OG, John Little, BHG, Metro, Cold Storage and FairPrice Xtra/Finest.

* Special thanks to L'Oreal Singapore for sponsoring me these lovely L'Oreal Youth Code products.

L'Oreal Paris Perfect Clean (with the Scrublet)

These 4 big colourful bottles of the latest L’Oreal products could be easily mistaken for the latest shower gel (That was what I first thought of when I looked at them from a distance.)

However, upon closer look at the products, I was so surprised and excited to try out the products myself because it was my first time seeing such an interesting skincare product that included a “Pop Me Out” Scrublet (a soft, flexible brush) within the bottle.

Can you make a guess what are these?

HiP HiP HuRRaY To L'Oreal HIP (High Intensity Pigments) Collection

Have you wished that your eyeshadows are highly pigmented enough to give truer color payoff and let you create the vibrant and bold eye look you have always wanted?

Have you wished that your eye liner gives you the intensity of a liquid liner yet easy to draw like a pencil eyeliner?

Now shout out “HIP HIP Hurray!” and your wishes will come true instantly….

HIP HIP Hurray, the highly-anticipated L’Oreal HIP (High Intensity Pigments) Collection that has received international rave reviews has finally reached our shores and I was so privileged and excited to be one of the first few to try them.

HIP collection boasts a range of High Intensity Pigments Bright Shadow Duos Eyeshadows and Color Chrome Eye Liners.

These HIP High Intensity Pigments Shadow Duos Eyeshadows feature a micro-pulverized formula that allows for even, intense color deposit for contouring and defining. Now we can create bold and vibrant eye looks with these colors …

Each pot retails at $18.90/2.4g and it is available in eight shades: Adventurous, Bustling, Flamboyant, Flare, Flashy, Riotous, Showy & Platinum. *Interesting shade names! So can you make a guess which 4 shades I have got based on the picture shown above?

Let us take a closer look and swatch these lovely eyeshadows...

As seen from the swatches, the colors are pretty intense even without using an eye shadow base. However, if we apply an eyeshadow base (such as Urban Decay Primer Potion) before putting on any eyeshadow, the colors will be richer, more intense, and more lasting on our eyelids.

The eyeshadows are all highly pigmented and contain some shimmers which give me subtle bling bling effect without looking like a disco ball. The texture is also fine and gives a velvety, ultra-smooth finish. I like!

How about the packaging?

Each eyeshadow pot measures approximately 19mm in thickness and 48mm in diameter.  It is compact enough to put inside our cosmetics pouch. I like the idea that there is a separate compartment underneath the eye shadow, open it up and you will find a mini sponge applicator. Great for touch-ups on the move.

Up next, HIP Color Chrome Eyeliners come in rich metallic shades that create a unique, chrome finish. It provides the intensity of a liquid eyeliner and the precision of a pencil eyeliner, giving eyes a 3-dimensional look.

It is available in 4 intense metallic shades: Black Shock, Silver Lightning, Gold Charge and Violet.

Retail at $17.90/1.1g.

Let us swatch them…

Look how pigmented these HIP Color Chrome eyeliners swatches are. These swatches are done without applying any eye shadow base. True to its name, its gives a rich crème formula for smooth application and produces a striking metallic effect.. and what I love about these eyeliners -> They really glide so smoothly on my skin, think of the intensity of a liquid eyeliner but the ease of application like that of a pencil liner.. I love these eyeliners. How do they perform on my eyelids? Read on to find out more..

^ Pink shade from Adventurous, teal shade from Flashy, and Gold Charge Chrome Eyeliner.

My thoughts and which is my favorite out of the 4 eyeshadows colors?

When I received these 4 duo eyeshadow colors, I was thinking how am I going to apply the colors in Riotous because the striking lime green seem to be such a weird color on the pot, something that I won’t think of putting on my eyes. However, after trying out on my eyelids, I actually like it most..its such a pretty unique shade -> olive-lime green shade with shimmer. The duo colors complement each other to give me an instant pop to my tired-looking eyes. I also like how the lime green shade blends well with the pink shade in Adventurous, giving a summer feel.

I also like Adventurous, especially its pink. I seldom wear pink on my eyelids as I find pink tends to make my eyelids more puffy looking. But the pink in Adventurous did not make my eyelids puffy, in fact it brightens my eyes and gives a more refreshing look. I like that it is also a versatile color.

Although I like smoky eyes effect, I never know how to create the look because it really requires precise skills, since black is one of the most difficult to blend color.  I tried filling my whole eyelid with Platinum duo and here is the result:

(Ok, don’t laugh I know it’s an awful demonstration) I seriously need some professional lessons on creating smoky eyes effect because I simply cannot make it! ( But the colors are very intense right?)

Overall, these colors are highly pigmented and blends well .The eye shadow powder also adheres well onto my double eyelid tapes. (See the shot I took wearing Flashy) Do also check out other lovely colors such as Flamboyant, Flare, Bustling and Showy. The intense gold and rich royal purple shades in Flamboyant look great!

These colors can be easily mix and match, and my favorite combination is the Lime green shade from Riotous with Pink shade from Adventurous , paired with Violet Volt Chrome Eyeliner.

As for the HIP Color Chrome Eyeliners, I just have to shout out: “I love them loads!” I own quite a number of pencil liners, and nothing comes close to HIP color chrome eyeliners. HIP eyeliners just glide like a dream on my lash line! The colors are just so vibrant and the texture is so creamy and smooth. They also work great as an eye shadow base, enhancing the intensity of the eye shadow colors. I love the fact that they give the striking metallic effect for that added bold definition. Now, I seriously lemming for Black Shock and Silver Lightning shades to complete my HIP Color Chrome Eyeliner collection!! (‘’,)

Do check out these lovely HIP collections and colors from L’Oreal Paris at selected Watsons stores from 23 September 2010 onwards..

L'Oreal Sale At Concorde Hotel 16 June 2010

I went to the L'Oreal sale held at Concorde Hotel in the afternoon... Think normally L'Oreal will hold their warehouse sale at Singapore Expo Foyer, but this time round it was held at one of the function rooms at Concorde Hotel which is located along Orchard Road. *Very convenient*

Although there were many customers, it was a breeze to walk around the sale area.. as in no need to push and squeeze, everyone was browsing the products in comfort, at their own time with ample walking space in the air-conditioned room.. Items wise were pretty much the same as the previous warehouse sale, just that here everything seem much organised, items and prices were displayed clearly.

All the skincare and haircare products are cheap..

  • Cosmetics 4 for $20, also got foundation but like limited colors
  • Maybelline highly raved gel liner for only $10,
  • Maybelline mascaras at 2 for $15 or $10 each, depending on the range. (saw the yellow one, should be magnum)
  • L'Oreal Hot Straight Thermo-Straightening Spray $3 per bottle (one of my favourite straightening heat protectants)
  • L'Oreal Anti Frizz Shampoo and Re-Nutrition conditioner $8
  • L'Oreal Some shampoo and conditoner (smaller bottles) - 3 for $10
  • L'Oreal men range eye cream and moisturiser $10 each
  • Vichy products left only a few products..
and many more products but I could not remember all the products that I have seen and their prices.

I only spend around 10 minute inside the room, and bought only 2 tubs of L'Oreal hair mask at $5 per tub. ( The masks pretty new stocks, manufactured in Jan 2010) Another L'Oreal mask is the red tube for colored hair.

^ The cashier also gave customers free 3 sachets (15ml each) of the Elseve Re-Nutrition Replenshing mask with Royal Jelly, for purchase above $10.

So far, I never see  L'Oreal Professional Hair Spa 500ml (Green Tub) and L'Oreal Dual Eye makeup remover at their sale before...

Update 26 March L'Oreal Beauty Sale..

As my friends were in the Queue at the Crocs sale, I went over to L'Oreal sale to have a look... no queue to go the Foyer... but still like 20 people++ queuing up to pay for their stuffs..

Pictures taken at 10.30am.. when the place was not so crowded...

Situation was pretty good with plenty of stocks when I browsed through at 10.30am, but I was only there for 5mins, before I popped over to the Crocs Warehouse Sale..

Then I came back around 11.50pm, the situation was pretty bad... The Queue to the cashiers was HORRENDOUS..( I had wanted to buy a men skincare set for my bf but I gave up after seeing the super LONG Queue which almost reached the escalator side ( which mean at the entrance)

See....

I guess it will take to take 1-2 hours to reach the cashiers if one were to start queuing from the back..

( There were like only 3 or 4 cashiers.. even pay cash also does not make any difference to the waiting time)

Update: I went back at 4pm++ ( to settle my Crocs bill error then popped by L'oreal Beauty Sale again)

More pictures taken:

Guess the Queue depends on the crowd.. At 12pm, its really terrible but at 5pm, its so much shorter, think just take 15 mins to reach the cashier.

Haha..these are the stuffs I bought ( 3 of them my friend's)
