Clarins Neo Pastels Spring Make-Up Collection

Spring is here and with it happiness and optimism, a chance to enjoy the moment and its simple pleasures.

A few days ago, a courier man came knocking on my door and to my surprise, I was greeted by a Clarins bag containing the latest Clarins Spring Makeup Collection - Neo Pastels, all thanks to the lovely ladies from Clarins Singapore. They just love showering us with lovely surprises, don't they?

Neo Pastels Spring Makeup Collection features Neo Pastels Eye Colour & Liner Palette (Limited Edition), Blush Prodige Illuminating Cheek Colour (New), Rouge Hydra Nude Smoothing Cream Lipstick SPF6 (Limited Edition), Joli Rouge Brillant Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick (New Shades), Instant Smooth Line Correcting Concentrate (New) and also Wonder Volume Mascara.

Now let us take a closer look at each of the product...

Neo Pastels Eye Colour & Liner Palette (Limited Edition)

Neo Pastels Eye Colour & Liner Palette houses six eye shadows in subtle, delicate tones, in three monochrome harmonies: browns, pinks and violets. Their specially designed texture can be applied dry for a more subtle make-up look, or with a damp applicator for a more intense look. Any colour combination is possible, to create any look you prefer,simply follow your inspiration. To enhance make-up and give eyes more depth, a black eyeliner is included in the palette.

It is presented in the classic Clarins light gold flat case, with Clarins signature. It contains a double applicator - a foam end for eye shadows and a brush end for the eyeliner. I specially love the pointed firm brush end which works great in picking up and applying the eyeliner that is included in the palette. Very easy to draw!

These six eyeshadow colours are soft and sheer, and come in three harmonies: browns, pinks and violets. Their ultra-fine texture is designed for all colour combinations and blending of shades, for a customized make-up result ranging from the most natural to the most sophisticated. The shades are very wearable for work and play.

1, 2 or 3 shades? Anything is possible! Apply a single shade and a stroke of eyeliner for simple, quick makeup, or 2 or 3 colours for a more sophisticated look. The eyeliner in this palette is cream-based but upon application using the brush provided, it gives a soft yet defined line. This palette is definitely one of my favourites in  this Neo Pastels collection!... Grab it before its gone, because this is Limited Edition!

Clarins Blush Prodige Illuminating Cheek Colour (New)

These 6 new Blush Prodige Illuminating Cheek Colours come in complementary shade pairs, to give cheekbones both colour and light: a matte shade to sculpt the face and an iridescent one to highlight facial contours as it catches the light.

A new generation texture that includes mineral pigments and plant extracts - bamboo powder and tomato extract, add a radiant and healthy glow to the skin. Silky to the touch and extremely lightweight and comfortable, the texture of Blush Prodige delivers endless colour variations, with luminous, long-lasting results and an even, natural makeup look.

The shade that I have is 01 lovely rose. It is a very soft pastel pink blush, in fact this is the lightest pink shade blusher that I have in my mini makeup collection. I tried to swatch it on my skin but my camera failed to capture the nice subtle pink colour so I had to swatch the pinks on a cotton pad..

On my skin, I had to apply a few times before a very subtle nice pink appear on the apples of my cheeks. It gives the healthy glow from within, because the blush really looks very natural..  I guess lovely rose will show up better on fairer skin tone. I am fair-medium with yellow undertone, and I need to apply around 3 layers. Totally worth the effort and time I took to layer on the blusher on my cheeks when I see the end result.

Clarins Blush Prodige Illuminating cheek colour comes with a compact brush for easy application and blending of colour when one is on the go. This is the first Clarins blusher that I have that includes a compact brush inside the case. I used the brush to create the below look and it actually works without creating any harsh line.

Instant Smooth Line Correcting Concentrate (New)

In one click, this clever pen releases a texture enriched with Dermaxyl, a line-repairing peptide. Its high-precision tip ensures targeted application at the heart of the wrinkle, for optimal effectiveness. Skin appears instantly smoother and more even.

Clarins Instant smooth line correcting concentrate is stored in a red pen which uses the same mechanic as the light gold pen of Clarins Instant Light Brush-On Perfector. However, for this, I seem to have turned the bottom part of the tube in clockwise motion for countless rounds before the product was being dispensed onto the soft rubber tip when I first used it. Think be prepared to turn at least 20 times before the product is being pumped up from the tube. Subsequently, it was a breeze to dispense the product.

The texture is pretty similar to that of Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch, its beige-coloured cream instantly smelt into my skin creating a smooth canvas. It was amazing to feel the smoothness of my skin after application, my pores looked less obvious and fine lines became more refined. This is definitely a GREAT face primer to use before makeup! For Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch lovers, I am sure you will appreciate this product, as it now comes in a compact and more hygenic packaging that one can slip easily into any bag.

Rouge Hydra Nude Smoothing Cream Lipstick SPF6 (Limited Edition)  

Rouge Hydra Nude smoothing cream lipstick SPF6 incorporates an innovative formula with skin care benefits that moisturises and nourishes lips, repairs and protects them while smoothing and enhancing their beauty with natural tones.

Skin on the lips is five times finer than the facial skin. It has few sebaceous glands and no hydrolipidic film. The epidermis is very thin and the lips have no real protective skin barrier. They are fragile and dry out easily.  Rouge Hydra Nude contains skin care ingredients such as Hydracire S (a combination of 3 waxes: sunflower, mimosa and jojoba), SPF6, mango butter, Vitamins E and A, and Gamma Oryzanol.

Rouge Hydra Nude lipstick is super creamy and sheer that it just glides onto my lips. It indeed makes my lips feel very moisturising and comfortable. I am not a fan of lipstick, but this lipstick is pretty good and it offers sun protection of SPF6 as well. It feels like a lipbalm to me too.  01 nude rose gives a nice nude pink on lips. Know what this lipstick has a very interesting and yummy smell.. it reminds me of caramel chocolate vanilla... or was it my imagination?

Joli Rouge Brillant Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick

Joli Rouge Brillant Perfect Shine Sheer Lipsticks  contain "Extreme Shine" complex to give fuller-looking and luscious lips. A combination of "Maxi-Lip" and "shine activator" pigments gives the colours a multi-facetted effected. Here is one of the 3 new permanent shades - 13 Cherry. When I opened the cover for the first time, my first thought was "this is really one bright red lipstick and it seems to be loaded with shimmers!"

Then I swatched it on my skin:

Rouge Hydra Nude is the sheerest among the 3, Joli Rouge Brillant has the most shimmers whereas I find Rouge Prodige to be the most pigmented among the 3.


and finally on my lips:

This was taken without flash, but with flash, my lips looked like 2 huge sausages ~ hides~ see below and you will know what I mean..

Oh well, I find that Joli Rouge Brillant Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick in 13 cherry is still too red and shimmery for my liking. The bright red colour and shimmers seem to make my already thick lips even bigger and thicker ( OK, I admit I am conscious about my sausages-looking lips and I wish I have thin lips so that I can carry off bright coloured lipsticks) For now, I shall stick to lip balms and very sheer & nude lipsticks like Rouge Prodige (in 105, Peach Sorbet)  and the latest moisturising Rouge Hydra Nude (in 01 nude rose)

Here are 2 looks I created using Clarins Neo Pastels Spring Makeup  Collection:

Actually in photo 1 and 2, I used the same products, just different hairstyles and clothes. (I used the lilac and violet shades from the Eye Colour & Liner Palette, and Rouge Hydra Nude 01 Nude Rose on lips)

For photo 3, products used were the same as in photo 1 & 2, except that I used beige and brown shades from the Eye Colour & Liner Palette, and Joli Rouge Brillant 13 Cherry on lips.

Skin 79's Diamond Bloggers Workshop

Not long ago (on the evening of 30th July 2010), I attended my first Skin79 Bloggers workshop at The Icing Room @ 313 Somerset.

So excited because it will be my first time playing with Skin79 products and my first time trying to decorate muffins by myself.. ('',)

^ Here's pretty and friendly Lorraine, brand manager of StarAsia Singapore, giving us an introduction of the products in the Diamond Collection I and II... Yes, you did not read wrongly.. its DIAMONDS!! ... now diamond powder is used as one of the ingredients in our makeup items, found in Skin 79 Diamond I and II collections...How cool is that!!

The Diamond Collection I range is for ladies looking for a little diamond shine in their complexion..as it contains diamond powder and jewel complex powder of ruby, amethyst, coral and tourmalin and pearl, combined with skin care properties to create a flawless complexion...

^ The Prestige Beblesh Balm is a 3 effects functional BB cream which has whitening effect, wrinkle improvement benefit and sun protection benefit of SPF25 PA++ (Price: $39.90)

^ The Diamond Star Glow Ball powder gives radiance and shimmers using the 5-colors refined and luxurious ball powder. I find this is similar to Guerlain Meteorites powder which also makes use of 5-colors ball powder, but this is much more affordable. Although I have not tried the Guerlain version, I find Skin 79 Diamond Star Glow Ball Powder good enough to give me a nice glow and some highlight to my skin, without making me look at a disco ball.. its retailing at $39.90, so its worth a try.

^Diamond Luminous Pearl Beblesh balm comes in with a brush-in applicator, for easy application of the product onto skin. Just press the back of the tube to dispense a small amount of bb cream onto the brush tip and you can brush it directly onto skin. Plus the top part (including the brush) of the bottle, can be easily removed to wash .. so that the brush can be cleansed as and when you required.. more hygienic this way('',) and bacteria wont built up over time. ( Retail $35.90)

^ Diamond UV Screen Beblesh Pact SPF22++ is something like a pressed powder to be used alone or after applying bb cream to give a soft, fresh and shine free complexion. It also protects our skin from harmful UV rays with added SPF22 PA++. I find that it is very alike to my skin color, in fact when I swatched it at the back of my hand, the powder just disappeared, blending into my skin instantly. (Retail: $39.90)

That's all for The Diamond Collection I... so now introducing Diamond Collection II..

So what is the difference between Skin 79 Diamond I and II collections?

Diamond II range includes an upgraded formula with diamond powder, floral bouquet complex and blooming jewel complex consisting of 5 jewels including amethyst and ruby, making skin shimmer and shine like jewellery..

^ Diamond Perfect Cover BB concealer is a dual shade concealer that naturally covers skin imperfections and provides under-eye areas. The instructions stated: Use the light beige after applying foundation, and apply it to parts of dark circles under the eyes under a tapping motion. Use the natural beige on dark spots by tapping and blending out.. Actually there are no hard rules on how we can use this dual concealers, we can even mix both colors to get a perfect shade for our skin tones.. we can use it before or after foundation depending on our preferences too.. Each concealer color weigh 3g so you get 3g x 2 of products housed in a nice dark pink case. ( Retail: $39.90)

^ Diamond All-Day Sun powder SPF30 PA++ is a loose powder with added SPF30 PA++ to protect our skin from the harmful UV rays. Instead of a separate sponge in the container, the sponge is attached to the cover. Once you open the container, hold the knob-alike on the top of the cover and dab the attached sponge onto the loose powder for a fuss-free application. This is retailing at $39.90.  Diamond UV Perfect BB Pact SPF 30 PA++ is a pressed powder that adheres softly to the skin while maintain a shine -free face. (Retail: $43.90)

There is also another product in this collection called the Diamond Crystal Pearl BB cream with built-in dual types pearl highlighter, to enhance skin radiance and provide 3D effect retailing at $42.90.
