Celebrate & Win the Renanthera Clarins Christian & Olivier Orchid Brooch

Clarins, the European leader in premium skincare, proudly announces the birth of the first Clarins orchid, the Renanthera Clarins Christian & Olivier. The new family member, a fiery crimson orchid, made its official debut at the Clarins’ Orchid Presentation, in Singapore Botanic Gardens' Burkill Hall last week.

Chairman of the Clarins Groupe, Mr Christian Courtin-Clarins, who flew in (with his two beautiful daughters, Claire Courtin and Virginie Courtin) for the ceremony, says:

“It is with great pride and a deep honour for Clarins to be gifted with an orchid that was specially created for us. For it to come from a professional body like Singapore Botanic Gardens, that works to promote greenery and plant species --- the brand and myself, find this tribute more meaningful. It is not simply a flower but it validates the efforts that Clarins has dedicated to sustainable development, all these years.”

It is the first time that a premium skincare brand has been gifted with its own orchid by the Singapore Botanic Gardens so next time when you visit Singapore Botanic Gardens..do take pictures with the first Clarins orchid -  the Renanthera Clarins Christian & Olivier that is blooming beautifully... and to celebrate this good news Clarins Singapore is giving away 5 limited edition Renanthera Clarins Christian & Olivier Brooch from RISIS in celebration of its ORCHID BLOOM.

Clarins White Plus HP Whitening Velvet Emulsions

In January 2012, Clarins Singapore introduced two new members into its whitening range (White Plus HP Sea Lily Enriched) at all Clarins counters islandwide. Thanks to Clarins Singapore, I was given the opportunity to try out both these 2 latest products - The New White Plus HP Whitening Velvet Emulsion and Whitening Velvet Emulsion SPF20.

By combining active ingredients with proven whitening properties, the White Plus HP Sea Lily Enriched products offers the most advanced protection against hyperpigmentation both inside and outside the melanoctye...the unique ingredients used in the White Plus HP Sea Lily Enrich range..

  • Sea lily extract - controls the extension of dendrites, the "arms" of melanocytes which deliver melanin to cells in the epidermis.
  • Alchemilla extract - slows the excessive transfer of melanin to the epidermis.
  • The combination of raspberry extract ( a highly stable vitamin C derivative) and biotin (vitamin B8) slows the synthesis of melanin.
  • Tannins from alchemilla and flavonoids from raspberry and parsley enhance the natural draining mechanism in skin by increasing the resistance of blood capillaries.

The precious extract of an exceptional flower with whitening powers ..Sea Lily

Recommended Method To Use Clarins Whitening Velvet Emulsions:

Prices/Contents:

  • Whitening Velvet Emulsion $92 (75ml)
  • Whitening Velvet Emulsion SPF20 - $100 (75ml)

Trying the products for about a month:

Whitening Velvet Emulsion SPF 20 is enriched with meadowsweet extract that helps protect skin against shine due to the heat. It also contains UV filters and white tea extract to provide protection against harmful environmental factors and the sun. I am currently using Whitening Velvet Emulsion SPF 20  as a day moisturiser and Whitening Velvet Emulsion as a night moisturiser. You can also use the latter as both a day and night moisturiser.

Both emulsions have the same ultra-fluid and soft textures that make application a breeze.. First I spread and warm the product in my palms before patting the emulsion onto my skin. As it is very light weight and non greasy, the product absorbed almost instantly when I patted it on my skin. And Voila! ~ skin feel amazing soft and velvetly smooth! In the past 1 month of usage, I have noticed that my skin has become much smoother and clearer, and looks luminous! These products have nice floral scent.. I can still smell the light floral note within the first 1- 2 hours upon application, and the scent just uplift my mood instantly...

Another thing I like is both these products come in pump bottles so it makes dispensing the emulsions totally convenient and quick!

Here is me wearing Clarins Whitening Velvet Emulsion SPF20 with Clarins Skin Illusion Liquid Foundation. Tested and proven, Clarins Whitening Velvet Emulsion SPF20 enhances my makeup and makes my base makeup last longer too!

Try out this new Clarins Whitening Velvet Emulsion SPF 20 now and hope you will love it as much as I do...

Presenting my collection of Gloss Prodige lip glosses - (left left to right) - 03 Rose, 04 Candy and 08 Papaya

Trying the colours...

Clarins Gloss Prodige Intense Colour & Shine Lip Gloss - 03 rose

From the tube, 03 rose appears to be a shimmery beige shade but when I wear it on my lips, it turns out to be a light neutral pink shade which imparts much shine without any sticky feeling.

Clarins Gloss Prodige Intense Colour & Shine Lip Gloss - 04 Candy

At first glance from the tube, 04 candy did not attract me out of the 3 shades, as it looks like a deep purplish-pink, and I was afraid it would appear to be something dark but surprisingly, I actually love how the colour brightens my complexion. When I wear it, it appears a nice sweet shade of pink as it name suggests. - So Candy-licious!

Clarins Gloss Prodige Intense Colour & Shine Lip Gloss - 08 Papaya

Last but not least, here is 08 papaya. A lovely orangey-peach shade with gold shimmers that looks a bit different from the usual pink and neutral shades. This shade really looks gorgeous on lips.

All of these 3 shades look really different, and it depends on what type of look you want to go for. (In the above 3 pictures, I had actually wear the same eye makeup, but applied a different Gloss Prodige shade.)  It is hard to choose which one is my favourite, I love them all. These lip glosses melts onto my lips when I apply them and it has a yummy-delicious flavour with notes of blackberry and licorice. The gel texture with the shiny pearl complex, gives a nice glossy finish to my lips. No oily nor sticky feel!!!  And thanks to the raspberry oil, it made my dry lips feel nourished and hydrated during wear. I am really addicted to wearing my Gloss Prodige lip glosses these days!

Clarins Skin Illusion SPF 10 Natural Radiance Foundation

I have never tried any liquid foundation from Clarins so I was pretty excited to try out the product when I received my very first Clarins Liquid Foundations from the lovely ladies of Clarins Singapore. I was intrigued by the product name - Skin Illusion (and the first thing that came to my mind was "can this foundation really gives my not-perfect skin the illusion of better skin?")

Something about Clarins Skin Illusion SPF 10 Natural Radiance Foundation:

It is a light-reflecting, hydrating foundation that perfectly combines mineral and plant ingredients to create a naturally radiant complexion. The unique blend of ingredients continuously hydrates and protects the skin resulting in an incredibly comfortable, beautifully radiant and perfectly even complexion. This foundation is formulated with skin care benefits, taken directly from the nature.

The Unique Ingredients Used In Clarins Skin Illusion SPF10 Natural Radiance Foundation:

  • Anti-pollution and antioxidant complex - composed of white tea extract and succory dock-cress extract that help support skin's natural defences. It also helps to reinforce the skin care action while neutralizing free radicals.

  • 100% natural SPF 10 sun filters - ensure a level of daily protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays for our skin.

  • Pink Opal Powder - A powerful radiance-booster that evens the complexion and gives it unrivalled radiance. It is extremely fine in texture and able to fill in wrinkles and fine lines, to minimize their appearance.

  • Pink Algae Extract - has an energizing and stimulating effect on the skin. This stimulation of skin cells provides hydration and softening effects, making skin even toned, supple and comfortable.

Full Ingredients List of Clarins Skin Illusion SPF 10 Natural Radiance Foundation:

Price: $60

Contents: 30ml

Shades Available:

Clarins Skin Illusion SPF 10 Natural Radiance Foundation comes in an internation range of 11 shades* that have been created by Clarins Make-Up Artists to meet the needs of all women across the world.

Trying It On...

Clarins Skin Illusion SPF 10 foundation comes in an elegant, crystal pump-bottle with a light gold cap stamped with a stylized leaf delicately etched with the signature C. I just need to use 2 pumps of product on my whole face.

Swatches of shades 104 (cream) and 105 (nude):

Applying it on my face:

I have to say the very first time I used this foundation, I layered like 4 pumps of product over my whole skin which was prepped with a tinted primer and the result was not ideal-  it sort of made my skin look dull and appeared much darker than my skin tone. - And I figured something must be wrong somewhere...

So I used back my trusted face primer - Clarins Instant smooth line correcting concentrate which melted into my skin, creating a smooth canvas before I applied just 1 pump of foundation on one side of my skin using just a sponge.. And Voila! The result was fabulous and I could see my not-perfect skin instantly transformed to a much better skin! (Picture as shown above) It is pretty magical that the trick is to use less of the foundation yet it is able to even out skin tone, making skin look radiant, and smoother in just seconds. Thanks to the amazing Light-Optimizing+ Complex! I love how this lightweight foundation melts into my skin to give a better skin effect as though its my second skin, with just 2 pumps of product for my whole face.

Did I mention that the foundation is pretty lasting too? my makeup can last throughout the evening/night (about 6-8 hours) without the need to touch-up..

I took this picture after 8 hours of wearing Clarins Skin Illusion SFP 10 Natural Radiance Foundation, just before I went to remove my makeup. (Ignore my horrendous looking marks on my forehead)

*All Makeup used in this above picture include Clarins Instant smooth line correcting concentrate , Clarins Skin Illusion SPF 10 Natural Radiance Foundation, Clarins Instant Light Brush-On Perfector (01) , Shu Uemura Face Powder Sheer (Colorless), Clarins Barocco Face Palette as blusher, Averine Cover Spot Concealer (Light), Majolica Majorca Brow Customize Eyebrow Pencil, LipIce Lip Balm, Coastal Scents 88 eyeshadow palette, Double eyelid stickers, No-Brand Fake Lashes (#217)

Just drop by any Clarin counters to try out this foundation and hopefully you will love the after effect as much as I do ~ the illusion of having better skin!!

Introducing the New Clarins HydraQuench Range - Intensive Serum Bi-Phase and Creams

Clarins will be launching its new HydraQuench Range which consists of the three products as shown in the picture. (from left to right: Cream Melt, Intensive Bi-Phase Serum,Cream Gel) I was privileged to be the first few in Singapore to experience these products that are inspired by Nature for Asian skin.

HydraQuench range targets to provide optimal hydration at all skin levels, all day long, for each skin type.

At all skin levels
Ideal skin hydration shows on the skin's surface but it starts deep down.  By helping to replenish the water reservoirs (Our true skin-~Dermis)  that lie deep down in skin, HydraQuench skin care acts on the very source of all skin levels' hydration.

All day long
HydraQuench skin care ensures long-lasting hydration by strengthening skin's moisture barrier and maintaining skin's optimal moisture levels all day long. This helps to prevent excessive water evaporation on one's hydrolipidic film(~skin surface). Even if you have oily skin, it is essential to moisturise your skin and keeping it hydrated so as to slow down the evaporation of moisture from the skin. If not, skin will get even oilier when more sebum is produced to make up for the moisture loss.

For each skin type
HydraQuench Intensive Bi-Phase Serum helps restore even the most dehydrated skin. Complementary HydraQuench skin care optimizes this intensive hydration action.
  • Cream-Melt ~for all skin types
  • Cream-Gel ~ for normal to combination skin.

Now take a look at the differences between ideally hydrated skin and dehydrated skin..

We were also taught a simple method to check if we have dehydrated skin..

Look yourself into a mirror as you press your palm against your cheek. If you see a few thin, fine  lines appear as you apply pressure and then disappear when you release the pressure, this is a sign that you have dehydrated skin.

Spotted several fine lines? No worries.. here come the latest Clarins HydraQuench Range to your rescue..

Presenting the Key Ingredient used in the new Clarins HydraQuench range ...

Katafray - the housing and healing tree. (The tree plays a central role in local medicine, and also in the beauty rituals of Madagascan women who use it as a mask.)

Other Ingredients and their benefits found in the new HydraQuench range:

  1. Chondrus crispus extract - encourage the supply and retention of water at the heart of dehyrated cells in the epidermis.
  2. Sorbier - stimulates the microcirculation and ensures lasting protection of blood capillaries.
  3. Rhodiola rosea - ensures high protection against all biological stress factors.
  4. Pomegranate - tightens pores, controls sebum production
  5. Inca peanut - helps nourish and repair the skin and maintain cohesion of epidermal cells.
  6. Alpine willow herb - slow down sebum production.
  7. White tea - protects against harmful free radicals
  8. Hyaluronic acid complex - combination of two types of hyaluronic acid to ensure hydration on the skin surface and in the dermis.
  9. Katafray - Locks in moisture, prevents moisture loss and long lasting  hydration effect.

HydraQuench Range will be available at all Clarins counters from 26 August 2011. Visit any Clarins counter now to receive a 5-day trial supply of HydraQuench Serum Bi-Phase, along with a complimentary consultation.
