Creating A Natural Look With My Favourite Makeup Products

In recent months I have discovered some Holy Grail material makeup products that I am currently using them, and loving every bits of them that I want to blog about them before we bid Goodbye to 2010.  

It has been quite some time since I last touch my Revlon Colorstay Liquid foundation (a pretty high coverage foundation) because these days I much prefer to go for a more natural look.. When it comes to makeup, I personally feel that it is not about how thick or colorful the makeup is, but rather a good makeup should be able to cover imperfections/flaws and enhance our own features.. and that is where concealing, shading, blending, highlighting come into place.. (Ok, I admit I am a noobie in makeup, I do not know how to properly conceal my super bad dark circles, acne scar marks, neither do I know how to highlight and contour my face)  .. so I have to hunt for more user-friendly and effective makeup products since I do not have the skills...

In my opinion, I find a perfect makeup is one that one had applied several makeup products on her face, and people will compliment that her skin looks flawless, as though they cannot  see any makeup base on her skin..(I am still a far cry from this stage though.. but hope one day I am able to achieve this result by myself)

So what are some of my newly found HG makeup products I discovered this year which I have yet to blog about?

1) Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Powder foundation SPF20 PA++ (Shade 02)

I had this product for a couple months, but I just started using it like last month and have fallen in love with it. It is mentioned that it uses new fresh ground technology that delivers a microlight powder, virtually weightless, that blends perfectly on the skin. It is infused with minerals rich with antioxidants, vitamins A, C and E and natural skin smoothers. It is also enriched with sea water complex which contains elements such as calcium and magnesium known to strengthen skin and support natural mineral equilibrium.

At first I had wanted to use it as a loose powder to set my liquid foundation/BB cream. But after using it alone after my concealer, I began treating it as a foundation...I am very much delighted with the amazing result that I see on my skin, with such little amount of freshly grinded mineral powder.It gives me a better skin effect and even out my skin tone, as if it was my second skin. These days I just apply concealer and EA Pure Finish Mineral Foundation as my base and I can just hit town without wearing heavy makeup base.


By the way, all these while,I am using the given powder puff to apply the foundation and it works.I read from EA facebook that there is a $19.90 brush set promotion when one buy this Pure Finish Mineral Foundation at Sephora, but my friend just went to Sephora a week back wanting to purchase this foundation and the brush set but she told me the staff informed her that they don't carry EA cosmetics, so strange!

2) Kate Designing Eyebrow N (Shade : EX-5)

This is my first eyebrow powder palette. It comes with a dual sided eyebrow/shader brush to apply eyebrow powder on my eyebrows as well as to apply the beige powder at the inner corner of the eyelids to help brighten the eyes. I seldom use the beige powder though.. Most of the times I will use the light brown shade on the front of my eyebrows and the dark brown shade on the end of my eyebrows. Although the powder is not very pigmented, I can easily layer on more powder to create the natural brow effect. No harsh looking eyebrows. There is also another range of palettes called Kate Brown Collection Eye Shadow and Brow which include eyeshadow colors and eyebrow powder for a few bucks more.

Remember Ms Heroine sent me a Rescue Package some time back.. I had started using one of the mascaras - Kiss Me Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara, and I am loving the effect! It really gives me long lashes that curl without the awful clumps like those of cockroaches' legs.. It also does not irritate my eyes and does not smudge my eye areas after I watched a touching movie.. Just beautiful long lashes that curl all day long. Although this is a lengthening mascara, I find that it also volumises my sparse lashes at the same time. I am certainly impressed with the effect and long lasting result!

At first look, the brush did not seem anything special but once I drew the first line on the back of my hand.. My first thought went: : "WOW!!! This eyeliner has got a super duper ultra thin brush tip and its super black!" My first line was just a stroke (coat) across my skin, and I saw the finest line that I had ever came across that was produced by an eyeliner!

 

So how fine/thin the line exactly is?
Now you use a mechanical pencil and draw a line on a piece of white paper...yes, the line produced by Kiss Me Heroine Make Liquid Eyeliner is as fine as that drew from a mechanical pencil. Unbelievable right? And the best part is I can easily draw thin or thick lines just by layering over the lines. (See above pictures)

 

Are you now wondering if it is difficult to line my upper lids since it has such an ultra thin brush?

The answer is No! In fact,I find it even easier to line my upper lids as compared to using pencil eyeliners. I love the intensity and smudge-free formula which is long-lasting yet it is easily removed with warm water.

Review: 28 days after drinking Kinohimitsu J'Pan Beauty Collagen Drink

Today I had my 28th bottle of Kinohimitsu J'Pan Beauty Collagen Drink and here am I sharing my whole experience...

Actually I did nothing much in the past 28 days,except to drink a bottle of chilled Kinohimitsu J'Pan Beauty Collagen Drink before my breakfast or before I go to sleep.. Pretty easy, just sip a bottle of the delicious lychee-taste-alike juice within seconds...

So what did 28 bottles of Kinohimitsu J'Pan Beauty Collagen drink do for my skin?

Noticed any difference?

I do notice that the acne scars had lightened a bit and became clearer. Lines on my forehead were less obvious (although my lines are still there) as compared to 28 days before I started drinking Kinohimitsu J'Pan Beauty Collagen Drink. I also find that my makeup adheres better on my skin these days.

Now that my skin condition has improved slightly, I can just go out with minimal makeup.I have not been wearing thick foundation in the last couple of weeks.

Final words:

This is my 2nd time trying Collagen drink, my very first collagen drink was from a quite popular Japanese brand and it was in powdered form, but I gave up drinking after it gave me breakouts and it was rather troublesome to make the drink plus it was awful. I am so glad to try out Kinohimitsu J'Pan Beauty Collagen Drink and changed my thoughts on Collagen drink.. Now that I tried Kinohimitsu Collagen drink, I realise that drinking Collagen drink can be so convenient and tastes so yummy, without giving me any breakout! But instead it helps to improve my skin, giving me better skin- reduced my acne scars, made my fine lines less obvious and adding radiance to my skin. (",)

During the 1hours+ of facial, these were the steps/treatments that Peggy did on me (as far as I can remember):

• Welcome Touch ( A very gentle massage)
• Cleansing
• Toning
• Scrubber ( or Ultra sonic peeling - it is an machine which uses a hand device (like a small metal plate) that strokes over the skin to remove dead cells for a healthier and clearer complexion.. Do not worry, this treatment is very gentle on skin)
• Eyebrow trimming
• Face massage ( using night cream, the massage was relaxing with the right amount of pressure in rhythmmic stroking movement)
• Application of Moisture mask
• Shoulder Massage ( Yes, while the moisture mask was on my skin, Peggy gave me a massage on my shoulder, neck, upper back chest using kneading, sweeping effleurage and pressure points movements)
• A vial of Hydrating ampoule was then applied on my skin,
• A Collagen sheet mask was then placed over my face
• A machine ( an eletrode) was then used to glide over my mask to penetrate the ampoule into my skin.
• After removing my mask, moisturiser, eye cream and sunblock were applied on my skin.

Wow! That was quite a number of a steps/treatments isn't? After the treatment, I could feel that my skin was smoother and more supple. No redness or allery at all. No extraction was done for the treatment that I did. However, I did ask Peggy what if the customer has got acne, she told me that the beauty therapists will customize the treatment according to the customer's skin type and that it will include a light extraction, follow by suitable treatments/machines to treat the acne.

Being an ex- beautician myself, I can say that this Olinda Facial is not the normal $40-$50 facial that you find outside...( it will easily cost at least $200+ at established beauty salons or spas) Olinda facial is considered more of a complete facial treatment as it includes the ultra sonic peeling treatment, 2 masks, ampoule as well as including a machine to further penetrate the ampoule into our skin.. This is definitely a pampering facial treatment to rejuvenate our skin and I enjoyed it, in an all ladies environment!
